Belgian National Focal Point to the GTI - About us <h2>Who we are</h2>   Belgium's GTI Focal Point is only one of the Belgian official thematic National Focal Points established to promote, facilitate and implement the Convention on Biological Diversity. It operates, just as the <a href="/cooperation/chm_coop">Clearing House Mechanism Focal Point</a>, under the umbrella of the<a href="http://www.biodiv.be"> Belgian Focal Point to the Convention on Biological Diversity</a>.   Several people contribute on a recurrent basis to the daily operations of the Belgian GTI Focal Point.   <img title="Dr Yves Samyn" src="http://training.biodiv.be/gti_test/gti_test/PhotoArchive/Photo_2.jpg/view?display=Medium" border="0" alt="" width="185" height="139" /> <a href="mailto:yves.samyn@naturalsciences.be" title="Dr Yves Samyn">Dr Yves Samyn</a> - Coordinator of the activities of the Belgian GTI. Responsible scientist for the Belgian GTI training program. Editor in chief of <a href="/urls/abc-taxa" target="_blank" title="ABC Taxa">the capacity building journal AbcTaxa</a>. Research expertise in <a href="/urls/echinodermata" target="_blank" title="Echinodermata">holothuroid taxonomy</a>.     <img title="Dr Marie-Lucie Susini" src="http://training.biodiv.be/gti_test/gti_test/PhotoArchive/Photo_4.jpg/view?display=Medium" border="0" alt="" width="185" height="139" /> <a href="mailto:mlsusini@naturalsciences.be" title="Dr Marie-Lucie Susini">Dr Marie-Lucie Susini</a> - Responsible scientist for the administrative and more technical aspects of the Belgian GTI training program, especially regarding e-learning. His support is invaluable in ensuring the smooth implementation of the GTI activities.   <img title="Dr Anne Franklin" src="http://training.biodiv.be/gti_test/gti_test/PhotoArchive/DSC01719.JPG/view?display=Medium" border="0" alt="" width="185" height="139" /> <a href="mailto:Anne.Franklin@sciencesnaturelles.be" title="Dr Anne Franklin">Dr Anne Franklin</a> - Since mid 2008, Dr Franklin is the promoter of the Belgian CBD Focal Point. Anne is also the coordinator of the overall capacity building program funded by the <a href="/urls/belgian-development-cooperation" target="_blank" title="Belgian Development Cooperation">Belgian Development Cooperation</a>. She helps with the implementation of the objectives of the Belgian GTI, including on the international scene.   <img title="Dr Jackie Van Goethem" src="http://training.biodiv.be/gti_test/gti_test/PhotoArchive/IMG_2063_2.JPG/view?display=Medium" border="0" alt="" width="185" height="123" /> <a href="mailto:Jackie.VanGoethem@naturalsciences.be" title="Dr Jackie Van Goethem">Dr Jackie Van Goethem</a> - Former Executive head of the CBD NFP. Although retired since mid 2008, Dr Van Goethem continues to provide positive input into the workings of the Belgian GTI NFP.
