The current, 7th, edition of the ICNCP holds the Rules and Recommendations for naming plants in cultivation. This 7th edition, has been adopted by the IUBS Commission for the Nomenclature of Cultivated Plants.

International Code of Nomenclature of Bacteria

The International Code of Nomenclature of Bacteria (Bacteriological Code) contains General Considerations, Principles, Rules and Recommendations which govern the way in which the names of prokaryotes are to be used.
The last published version of the Bacteriological Code was published in 1992, but it has been updated regularly since then.

International Code of Botanical Nomenclature (ICBN)

The ICBN provides the rules that govern scientific naming in botany (including phycology and mycology). The present version is the so-called ST LOUIS CODE as adopted by the Sixteenth International Botanical Congress held in St Louis, Missouri, in July-August 1999.

International Code of Virus Classification and Nomenclature (ICTV)

The activities of the International Committee for the Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) are governed by Statutes agreed with the Virology Division of the International Union of Microbiological Societies. The Statutes state that the objectives of the ICTV are (1) to develop an internationally agreed taxonomy for viruses, (2) to develop internationally agreed names for virus taxa, including species and subviral agents, (3) to communicate taxonomic decisions to the international community of virologists and (4) to maintain an Index of names under ictv jurisdiction. The Statutes also state that classification and nomenclature will be subject to rules. These rules are set out in this Code.

International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN)

The International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature founded in 1895, is dedicated to achieving stability and sense in the scientific naming of animals. Its task is to create, publish and, periodically, to revise the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature. The Commission also considers and rules on specific case of nomenclatural uncertainty. These rulings are published as 'Opinions' in the Bulletin of Zoological Nomenclature.
