gti_abctaxa - Descriptions, classifications and keys made easyNowadays, several software packages exist to make traditional description and key building easier.2014-11-26T17:03:45Ztag:www.abctaxa.be,2014-11-26:/toolkit/tools-publish/descriptions-classifications-and-keys-made-easyhttp://www.abctaxa.be/misc_/CHM2/Site.gifNFP-GTIgti_abctaxaThe DELTA format (DEscription Language for TAxonomy)tag:www.abctaxa.be,2011-10-10:/toolkit/tools-publish/descriptions-classifications-and-keys-made-easy/delta-format-description-language-taxonomy2011-10-10T11:03:49ZhdekoeijerYves SamynThe DELTA format (DEscription Language for TAxonomy) is a flexible method for encoding taxonomic descriptions for computer processing. DELTA-format data can be used to produce natural-language descriptions, conventional or interactive keys, cladistic or phenetic classifications, and information-retrieval systems.Lucidtag:www.abctaxa.be,2011-10-10:/toolkit/tools-publish/descriptions-classifications-and-keys-made-easy/lucid2011-10-10T11:03:49ZhdekoeijerYves SamynWelcome to Lucidcentral, home of the Lucid family of software. It has been written as an alternative to similar web and standalone platform-dependent applications. The major difference between such programs and Visual Key, that the latter uses character maps that allow acquiring and describing characters directly from the image of an organism. Since the goal of the project was to create a program that does not assume any previous knowledge of a user about data or principles of interactive idenifications, some other features are not implemented.

Visual Key is a client-side program that uses objects and the language already predefined in major browsers, and therefore it is small, relatively fast, and cross-platform. Once downloaded it will work even without internet connection.

The program handles data matrices in the Nexus format and supports inapplicable, missing, multistate, and polymorphic characters. Visual Key can generate descriptions of given taxa at any time during identification.NaviKeytag:www.abctaxa.be,2011-10-10:/toolkit/tools-publish/descriptions-classifications-and-keys-made-easy/navikey2011-10-10T11:03:49ZhdekoeijerYves SamynNaviKey is a Java applet and application for accessing descriptive data coded in DELTA format
